Chapter 1: Quantum Physics And The Muhammadan Light

II - Secrets from E=mc2

1 - Einstein's Mass-Energy Equation Is The Muhammadan Light:

Inch'Allah, we shall now dive into the spiritual ocean of the mathematical equation known as "Mass-Energy Equation", which Einstein discovered at the beginning of the century.

The Mass-Energy equation is:

E = m . c ²

Where:  E = Energy of an object, m = Mass of the object, and c = Speed of Light

In other words, this equation states that the Energy of an object is equal to the its mass times the speed of Light squared.  The speed of Light c is constant throughout the whole universe, and is mathematically equal to 3 * 10 ^ 8 m/s.

Let us take a closer look to Einstein's Equation.  Dividing both sides of the equation by m, the object's mass, we get:

This equation is mathematically the same as the first equation listed on top.  We did not change its meaning.  We simply re-arrange things in a more suitable way, leaving the velocity of the Light on one side and the 2 other components of the equation on the other.

Mathematically, this new equation (new only in form, not in substance) states that the velocity of Light depends on 2 components: an object's internal Energy and its mass.  This statement has a very important spiritual significance. as we shall in the following sections, inch'Allah.

From a spiritual point of view, if we let the spiritual concept of Light (that is, the Muhammadan Light) equal its velocity component in the equation, then we see that Light possesses two spiritual components: Energy and matter (let us not worry about the square for now).  Moreover, according to our relational table (to be posted soon inch'Allah), we know that Energy represents Akhira and Mass the material world.  Therefore, according to the equation, Light has 2 characteristics: Akhira (the energy E) and dunya (the material world which is symbolized by the mass M).

This is in total phase with our interpretation of the Eternity Principle's 2nd Postulate, which states that Light Light has two components: a spiritual one, which represents Akhira and a material one, which represents dunya and creation.  Let us recall that this assertion is verified by the saying (hadith) of the Prophet (SAW):

"I have one face with the Creator and I have one face with the creation."
Related by Mawlana Shaykh Hisham al Kabbani in his book:
The Naqshbandi Sufi Way: History and Guidebook of the Saints of the Golden Chain

In this hadith, the term "Creator" represents the Muhammadan Light's Heavenly component which is made up of spirituality, spirits and pure energy.  The term "creation" represents the Muhammdan Light's material component which is represented by dunya, mass and the material life.

The scientific reality of Einstein's equation proves yet again how inevitable the Eternal Constraint is.  For the Prophet's eternal and perfect Divine appearance must be reflected in the scientific equation of Light.  Therefore, Einstein's equation is the scientific manifestation of the Muhammadan Light's Perfection.

Below is the Mass-Energy equation re-interpretated as the manifestation of the Muhammadan Light's Perfection.

2 - Secret of the Squared Light:

In the equation
,

we noticed that the Light's velocity C is squared.  It should therefore be read as C * C.  The squared velocity must therefore represents a Heavenly Reality of Light that is doubled by itself.

There are many spiritual reasons behind the squared velocity.  One of them is the following:

The second velocity component in the term C * C represents an emphasis of the first velocity component.  It therefore stresses the Truth contained in the spiritual Reality of Light.

Such an emphasis is common in the realm of Spiritual Realities.  For instance, in God's Divine Name A L L A H, the second L is believed to act as an emphasis of the Secret contained in the first L (of course, there are higher spiritual interpretations of this L).

Another example would be God's Holy Name RAHIM ("The Most Merciful"), who is also believed by Islamic scholars to be an emphasis of the Secret contained in the Holy Name RAHMAN ("The All Merciful").

As Muslims, we have to keep in mind that Spiritual Realities have an infinite number of levels.   Therefore, a Spiritual Reality may have very different meanings depending on the level from which this Spiritual Reality is discussed.

It is important for us to make such a statement because the fact that the Light's velocity is squared in one of the scientific representation of the Muhammadan Light (Einstein's equation namely) is an indication of something very powerful and hidden.  Surely, the squared Velocity must hold the keys to spirituals Secrets higher than a simple emphasis.

One of these spiritual Secrets is hidden in the Verse of Light (Ayat al Nur):

Allah is the Light of Heavens and earth.
The similitude of His Light is as a niche wherein is a lamp,
the lamp is in a glass.  The glass is as it were a shinning star.
(This lamp) is kindled from a blessed tree,
An olive neither of the East nor of the West,
Whose oil would almost glow forth (of itself) though no fire touched it.
Light upon light, Allah guides unto His light whom He wills.
And Allah speaketh to mankind in allegories, for Allah is Knower of all things.

an-Nur , 24:35

In this Holy Verse, we notice that Allah (SWT) makes the following Holy Statement: "Light Upon Light".  According to the
Eternal Constraint
, the most basic reality of this Holy Statement must be reflected at every lower level of dunya, the material world.  As expected, such a reflection is hidden in the mathematical representation of the Muhammadan Light:

"Light upon Light" literally means Light that is reflected upon itself.   This basic understanding of the Holy Words of Allah (SWT) manifests itsleft as the mathematical expression:

C  * C   ,

which means Light's velocity multiplied by itself.

This is one of the most basic interpretations of the Holy Statement "Light Upon Light".  Inch'Allah, a more spiritual interpretation is given in the next section.

3 - Einstein's Mass-Energy Equation as the manifestation of the Holy Verse Of Light:

First and foremost, let us remind ourselves one more time that Spiritual Realities, especially those explicitly contained in the Holy Quran, have infinite levels of understanding.  Our goal is not to provide a spiritually-high level of explanation of Allah (SWT)'s Holy Words, for we are not qualified for such a job.

Rather, we are suggesting a lower-level, scientific interpretation of some Spiritual Realities for the sake of this book as a way to make us more aware of the manifestation of Divine Realities in science.  Our point is simple: to prove the validity of the Priciple of Eternity, which represents one of the Realities confined in the Shahada.  Therefore, any interpretation should be kept in the scope of this book.

Allah (SWT) is saying in the Verse of Light:

Allah is the Light of Heavens and earth.
The similitude of His Light is as a niche wherein is a lamp,
the lamp is in a glass.  The glass is as it were a shinning star.
(This lamp) is kindled from a blessed tree,
An olive neither of the East nor of the West,
Whose oil would almost glow forth (of itself) though no fire touched it.
Light upon light, Allah guides unto His light whom He wills.
And Allah speaketh to mankind in allegories, for Allah is Knower of all things.

an-Nur , 24:35

Islamic scholars agree that this Holy Verse refers to the Muhammadan Light (for a full explanation of the Verse of Light, please see Imam Ghazzali's acclaimed book: Mishkat Al Anwar - "The Niche Of Secrets".

For the sake of this book, inch'Allah we will only analyze a small part of this Holy Verse.

Allah (SWT) says that the similitude of this Light (the Light that is coming from Him, therefore the Muhammadan Light) is as a Niche where there is a Lamp.  This Lamp is enclosed in a Glass that is shinning as a brilliant star.  And the Lamp itself carries some Light which is generated by a medium that is "neither of the east nor of the west".

The Holy _Expression "neither of the East nor of the West" means "not from this world".  Therefore, the Lamp carries a Light that is not from dunya (the material world), but from Akhira.  This Light is the Spiritual Light.  It is the Light of the Heavens and of all the spiritual universes.

This Lamp, which is carrying the Spiritual Light, is enclosed in a Glass that is as a "shinning star".  The Glass is the material container of the Spiritual Lamp, which is carrying the Spiritual Light.  Moreover, this material Glass is also carrying a Light since it is referred to as a "shinning star".  Therefore, the Glass' Light represents the Material Light.  It is the Light of the dunya and of all the material objects that are encompassed by the concept of dunya.

These two Lights represent in fact the same Light that is illuminating to different worlds: the spiritual one and the material one.  Since the two Lights are One, they are therefore reflecting upon each other.  Thus, Allah (SWT) concludes: "Light Upon Light".

According to the Eternal Constraint, this spiritual concept must be reflected in our scientific representation of the Muhammadan Light.  Indeed, the modern concept of Light is that of a set of particles (photons) carrying some energy E inside of them, according to the equation:
E = h * f

The representation of a single photon is shown below.

Representation of a photon

The photon's internal Energy E = h*f  represents the Spiritual Light that is lit "from an Olive, neither of the east nor of the west.", meaning, not subject to the classical fundamental laws of nature. Indeed, Energy belongs to the Spiritual World, and as such, represents Akhira.

The outward discrete shape of the photon represents the shinning Glass that is internally carrying the Spiritual Light and that is also reflecting a Light: the Material Light (which is shining forth).

As we see, the spiritual reality of the Muhammadan Light is reflected in the scientific representation of a photon, which represents the primary component of Light.

This representation is also present in the Mass-Energy equation:

We already saw that the square of the speed of Light is an interpretation of the Holy Statement: "Light Upon Light".  To go a little further, let us analyze the Holy Verse of the Light one more time:  The Lamp's internal Light (which is kindled from a blessed tree) is the Spiritual Light.  It therefore represents Energy.  The Glass that is also shining forth represents the material Light.  Therefore, in the Mass-Energy equation, the Energy and the Mass components represent respectively the Lamp's spiritual Light and the Glass' material Light.

The Holy Verse of Light is scientifically represented as Einstein's Mass-Energy Equation

Therefore, according to this interpretation of the Verse of the Light, any material object carries two types of Lights: a Heavenly Light and a Material one.  And since Light is a source of energy, it follows that any object carries some Energy that appears as pure energy E or as a form of mass M.  This conversion process (from pure energy to mass, or vice-versa) is done in such a way that the ratio of pure energy and mass is always equal to the speed of Light C.

This is precisely what Einstein discovered:

This constant speed of Light, which is the only parameter that is constant in the whole universe, is the scientific manifestation of the Muhammadan Light.  Therefore, the eternal and constant presence of the Prophet, SAW, is mathematically expressed by the Mass-Energy equation.  Inch'Allah, we shall talk more about the constant balance of Energy and Mass as the only constant entity of the universe in our discussion of Surah Rahman (Surah 55).

Einstein proved that mass carries some energy E.  Moreover, we know that the primary source of Energy is Light.  Therefore, in the Mass-Energy equation:

  ,

E (Energy) is Light and M (mass) is Light also.  The ratio E / M (Energy over Mass) is therefore a mathematical expression of the eternal World of Allah, exalted is He, "Light Upon Light".  Literary, we would read, "Light over Light", which means Spiritual Light over Material Light, which also means Energy over Mass:

Therefore, The ratio of Spiritual Light over Material Light is equal to the Muhammadan Light, which is represented by the velocity of Light C.

The Spiritual Light is the Light of the Lamp that is mentionned in the Holy Verse of Light.  It is a spiritual Light because it does not belong to the material world since it is "kindled from a a blessed tree, an olive neither of the East nor of the West".  Therefore, this Light is not directed toward the material world.  Rather, it is directed toward the Heavenly World because it is coming from a Heavenly body: the Blessed Tree.

The Light we see everyday is the Material Light, which is coming from the Glass that is "shining forth".  This Light is directed toward the material world because is is coming from a material body: the Glass.

The Spiritual Light is the Muhammadan Light appearing in Heavens as guidance for the Heavenly Beings (Angels, other Prophets and other Heavenly Creatures) as well for the spiritual beings living in us.

The Material Light is the Muhammadan Light manifesting on earth as the physical light that provides guidance for the material beings (light of the sun for mankind, galaxies, and universes)

If we look closely at this ratio in the Mass-Energy equation, we notice that the Spiritual Light, which is represented by E, is on top of the Material Light, which is represented by M.  The Mass-Energy ratio is only equal to the speed of Light if E is divided by M (and not M divided by E).  Therefore, the speed of Light is only mathematically manifested when the energy E of an object is divided by its mass.  This mathematical truth reveals the superiority of the Heavenly World, which sit on top of the Material World.  Indeed, Allah, exalted is He, eternally put Akhira on top of dunya.  This is the reason why the sky, which represents Heavens is above the earth, which represents dunya. This eternal Heavenly Law is reflected in the Mass-Energy equation.

4 - Scientific Proof of the existence of matter's spiritual soul:

Material Light may also refer to the Light that is hidden in a material object.

According to our Islamic belief, every material entity created by Allah, exalted is He (from the huge universes to the immensely small atoms) possesses a spiritual soul and is therefore alive through this subtle soul.  As expected, this eternally living aspect of creation must be reflected in our scientific discoveries.

Incredibly as it may seem, a French scientist scientifically conducted some experiments in order to prove that every particle existing in the realm of creation must exhibit characteristics that pertain only to Light.  This scientist is named Louis de Broglie (1892-1987).  He was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1929 for his prediction of the wave nature of particles.

De Broglie stated that because photons, which are representatives of Light, have both wave and particle characteristics, perhaps all forms of matter have both properties.  In other words, every component of the material world must exhibit a particle-wave nature.

De Broglie suggested that material particles have a characteristic wavelength LAMDA such that: (p 1311).

with p being the momentum of the object ( P = m * v),
and h being a particular constant called the Planck's constant.

Let us called that wavelength @.

This wavelength represents Spiritual Energy and, on a higher level, the Spiritual Soul.  Therefore, De Broglie scientifically proved that any material object possesses, a Spiritual Soul.  This assertion is in complete harmony with our Islamic and spiritual understanding of creation.  This is yet one more example of an eternal Law (that of the Living aspect of creation) that is represented on the lower level of science.

De Broglie's discoveries also imply that every material object carry a part of the Muhammadan Light (which is scientifically represented by the De Broglie Wavelength @).

This assertion is the scientific manifestation of two Eternal Realities:
-The Presence of the Prophet (SAW) within every created particle, including human beings.
-The birth of creation from the Light of the Prophet (SAW).

The knowledge of these two Heavenly Realities comes from the Speech of Allah (SWT) and the Words of the Prophet (SAW).  Remember that in our introduction, we listed the three types of Holy Media through which the Knowledge of Heavenly Realities may come down to us.

~The first Eternal Reality stated above is mentioned by Allah Himself in the Holy Quran:

"Wa`alamu anna feekum Rasulullah."
"Know that the Prophet is within you."

Quran 49:7

Our spiritual Master Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Hisham Kabbani (may Allah sanctify his secret) explains this Holy Verse as follow:

"That [Holy Verse] is giving a hidden meaning here.
[It] means that the Prophet's presence must exist at all times for all the people, for mankind to follow.
[Allah Ta'ala] did not say he is "baynakum", which means "among you", but He (SWT) said "feekum" - "in you."
The Holy Qur'an is delicate in every letter and every sentence.
If the Prophet (s) is in us, so then Allah is saying to us here, "where then is he now? "
Comments taken from a spiritual association (suhba)

~The second Eternal Reality ("the birth of creation from the Light of the Prophet, SAW) is verified by a saying (hadith) of the  Holy Prophet, SAW:

The first thing Allah created was the Light of your Prophet from His Light,
and that Light remained in the midst of His Power for as long as He wished,
and there was not, at that time, a Tablet or a Pen or a Paradise.
or a Fire or an angel or a heaven or an earth.
And when Allah wished to create creation,
he divided that Light into four parts and from the first made the Pen,
from the second the Tablet, from the third the Throne,
then He divided the fourth into four parts [and from them created everything else].

Narrated by 'Abd al-Razzaq (d.211) in his Musannaf.

Therefore, the Muhammadan Light is an eternal and constant component of every created particle.  This Heavenly Reality is scientifically represented by the wave property every particle exhibits.

The presence of the Muhammdan Light (and therefore of a Spiritual Soul) in every type of matter guaranties the presence of a spiritual energy that may be used to bend the physical laws of the world.  This phenomena, known as karama (or divine miracle in English) is part of the fundamental belief in Islam.

Click here for a Proof from Islamic scholars about the existence of karama in Islam  Soon inch'Allah

According to the Eternal Constraint, matter's ability to use its spiritual energy in a way that bends the physical laws of the world must be reflected on a lower level in science.   Indeed, Einstein and his friend discovered that the particles' wave properties allow them to cross the physical boundaries set by science.  Let us take a look at some of the experiments that played a critical role in the acknowledgement of miracles in science.
